The Chinese puzzle is made up of five right-angled triangles (two large, one medium, and two small), a square, and a parallelogram. These pieces are called tans, and the purpose of this puzzle is to form a shape using all seven pieces with no overlaps. Created during the Song dynasty (960-1279) in China and reaching the Western world in 1815 when it was first brought to America, there are currently over 6,500 possible tangram configurations, which is an ever growing number.
Put your own twist on this ancient classic and make your own tangram puzzle using your photos. You can use a single image, create a montage and even add text or icons. Personalized tangram puzzles come in two different size options, and you can choose whether to print on one or both sides.
When you make your own tangram puzzle, it is handmade to order in our bespoke facility by printing professionals. Each personalized tangram is supplied in a nice fabric pouch with a satin ribbon drawstring to help you keep all of the pieces together.
